In Quebec's Charlevoix County, the
extraordinary landscape stretches out before you in a distinguished
combination of mountain and forest. Situated along the great St.
Lawrence River, the countryside's quiet charm presents an intimate
portrait of rural existence where farming and agriculture are
staples of daily life. Breathtaking scenery and an astounding
variety of wildlife make every excursion unforgettable, while a
cruise to the mouth of the St. Lawrence offers the unparalleled
opportunity to witness migratory whales on their instinctive annual
journey. Golf
Following up on a significant upgrade to the existing course, the
addition of a new nine under the watchful eye of renowned architect
Darrell Huxham, the Club de Golf Le Manoir Richelieu is now home of
27 world class holes of golf. While keeping the essence of the
original design, Darrell Huxham managed to showcase the natural
beauty and esthetics of the Charlevoix region.
The golf experience starts with an
exclusive panoramic trail leading directly to the Clubhouse. While
driving your golf cart up on the 1.5 km trail, golfers enjoy the
magnificent views that are being offered to them. This unique and
uncommon way of accessing the golf course acquaints you with a golf
experience that is second to none!
The golf course, which is entirely
made of creeping bent grass, counts between 6066 and 6326 yards
depending on which course is played. The three nines offer golfers a
design of greenside and fairway bunkers, and multitudes of trees and
mounds that surround each reconstructed hole. The fairways, which
seem pretty wide, cannot be taken at ease.
Moreover, putting is by far the
biggest challenge on this course. Even though green surfaces are
pretty generous, speed and undulations are two important key
features to master in order to have great success on those ones.
Finesse and precision are the attitudes to adopt during this golf
experience.
First impressions always last. You
will not be disappointed with the improvements that the golf course
is able to offer to its golfers. At every point, you will be able to
admire the landscape and the great design that the St-Lawrence River
offers to each visitor. The panorama is breath taking.
Le Manoir Richelieu golf course was
inaugurated on June 18th 1925 by former U.S. President William H.
Taft, who spent his summers in the great region of Pointe-au-Pic.
This golf course was originally designed by the English golf
architect Herbert Strong.
