FINE DINING PAGE - LADERA RESORT - ST. LUCIA

Fabulous! Dasheene, the restaurant at Ladera, has been recognized as having some of the best cuisine on the island. Our chef, Robert Skeete, trained at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and has consistently won medals for his innovative use of fresh and delicious ingredients to prepare his mouthwatering meals. The food is a blend of Caribbean, Oriental and Continental dishes, and the dinner menu changes daily, depending upon the availability of ingredients.

Dasheene, Ladera's award-winning restaurant, has been refurbished and expanded. The view inside Dasheene complements the one outside. Guests from all over the island come to Dasheene to soak up the panoramic view through open-walls, sip cocktails in the Tcholit Bar, listen to live music and enjoy a creative menu featuring local and international delicacies.

Renowned Chef Orlando Satchell (visiting from London for winter season) has created a menu along with St. Lucian head chef Nigel Mitchel who manages Dasheene throughout the year.

The menu boasts an eclectic combination of local produce, freshly caught fish, just picked fruits and innovative, colorful presentations. Island visitors are welcome for lunch and dinner Reservations are required. Attire for dinner is "island elegant casual".

Dasheene serves a Tropical Breakfast for hotel guests from 8 - 10 a.m. Continental Breakfast Buffet - US $12 - Full Breakfast Buffet - US $18 - Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Dinner is served from 6 - 10 p.m. A MAP (Modified American Plan), full breakfast Buffet and dinner is available at US $65. Options? - Choices? - Type of Menu?

Dasheene always has a variety of choices including pastas, meat and vegetarian choices.

A recent guest wrote ...
"The restaurants at Hilton Jalousie and Anse Chastenet are convenient because the beach shuttle can take you to them for a nice lunch. We tried the one at the Hilton which was good. We also took a water taxi from Anse Chastenet to Marigot Bay and ate there. The 30-45 min trip was mostly for the fun of the ride, not to specifically eat there, but the food was good. There are also some restaurants in Soufriere, which is close by.

"But most of our meals were at Dasheene and we greatly enjoyed each one. The menu varied daily and we especially enjoyed the wide variety of local ingredients in the dishes. Even the breakfast buffet varied daily and was interesting. Don't miss the coconut cinnamon rolls they serve in the morning. The cooking lesson made us appreciate the offerings even more.

"Bottom line: You won't need to eat many meals away from the resort because the menu at Dasheene offers great selection, excellent wine list, and very reasonable prices."

Although Dasheene is recognized as the best restaurant on the island of St. Lucia, there is no official dress code. Breakfast and lunch, most people are ready to go out and enjoy the day -- shorts, tee shirts, summer dresses, even bathing suits with cover ups are fine. For dinner, the dress ranges from dressy casual to elegant, depending on the guest and what special occasion they may be celebrating.
