Master chefs create unique cuisines from the island's fresh bounty.
Each of Halekulani's restaurants boast spectacular ocean views and yet
are distinct from one another. Select from the elegant La Mer for that
special occasion, Orchids for casual elegance or House Without A Key
for informal dining until sunset.
LA MER
Dining at the elegant oceanfront La Mer is a rich sensory experience
of superb taste and impeccable service enhanced by the ever-present
sounds of "la mer," or "the sea" of Waikiki. This elegant restaurant
is located on the second level of the historic main building. Fresh
island ingredients are used in dishes inspired by flavors from the
south of France. La Mer's private dining room overlooking the Pacific
ocean offers an elegant and private dining experience for up to 16
guests. Menus are pre-selected, with a choice of entrees offered to
satisfy individual preference. The award-winning wine list is also
available.
The slightly larger
semi-private dining room can accommodate up to 22 guests. A prix fixe
menu designed by the host and La Mer manager is recommended for larger
groups.
ORCHIDS
Orchids, an oceanside restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner
with a panoramic view of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. Decorated
with a profusion of colorful orchids, creative seafood specialties are
presented in a setting which is informally elegant. Orchids' Sunday
brunch is legendary and is "Oahu's Best Brunch," according to
Honolulu Magazine.
Orchids offers views as spectacular as any you have seen, day or
night. The oceanfront setting is accompanied by splendid and creative
seafood specialties that include: Ahi Seared Sashimi with Cajun
Spices; Steamed Onaga Oriental Style, steamed Ruby Snapper garnished
with Shiitake Mushrooms, Ginger, Chinese Parsley, Soy Sauce and
Sizzled with Sesame Oil, Island Raised Moi with Hearts of Palm, French
Green Beans and Shimeji Mushrooms and more.

HOUSE WITHOUT A KEY
House Without A Key, immortalized in a 1925 Earl Derr Bigger's Charlie
Chan novel, is the hotel's popular gathering spot for informal
breakfast, lunch, cocktails, appetizers and entertainment. One of the
favored traditions of the original Halekulani—sunset cocktails and
Hawaiian music under the century-old Kiawe tree—has been preserved
here.
Entertainment at House Without a Key
Memorable sunsets at House Without A Key, accompanied by Hawaiian
music from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. nightly. "The Islanders" (Monday and
Tuesday), the "Aloha Serenaders" (Wednesday and Thursday), "Pookela"
(Friday and Saturday), "Paahana" (Sunday). Both former Miss Hawaii,
Kanoe Miller and Debbie Nakanelua, complement the music with their
graceful hula. Kanoe dances Monday through Saturday and Debbie on
Sunday.
LEWERS
LOUNGE
Tucked away in
the historic Main Building where La Mer and Orchids restaurants are
located, Lewers Lounge offers an intimate setting for cocktails or
after dinner drinks. Lewers is open nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 1:00
a.m. with entertainment from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Sunday through
Thursday and 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Entertainment at Lewers Lounge
Two veteran musicians, Jim Howard on keyboard and Bruce Hamada
bass/vocalist, perform contemporary and light jazz Tuesday and
Wednesday evenings. Their repertoire is timeless and classic. Each
Sunday, Monday and Thrusday, pianist/vocalist Noly Pa'a presents a
wide arrangement of popular contemporary songs and showtunes. David
Swanson, pianist/vocalist, entertains on Friday and Saturday with
smooth jazz melodies and piano tunes. No cover charge.
Veranda/Living Room
Perhaps one of the most elegant activities in Hawaii is afternoon tea
in the Veranda located adjacent to the Lewers Lounge. Fine
international teas, cakes and pastries are served daily by a gracious
tea hostess from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Reservations recommended.
IN ROOM
DINING
Sometimes the
nicest place to go is no place at all, and Halekulani's In-Room Dining
service is the ultimate in relaxed dining. Experience the luxury of
lounging on your lanai while enjoying a glass of freshly squeezed
orange juice and an omelette in the morning sun, or the fresh catch of
the day with wine under the evening moonlight. Our In-Room Dining is
available twenty-four hours a day. |
