Like a
cashmere sweater,
Round
Hill is exquisite to experience
but not the least bit showy. The resort, a former 100 acre pineapple,
allspice and coconut plantation, subscribes to the old moneyed
attitude of why flaunt what you have always had? So even in the finest
villas there are brass lanterns instead of crystal chandeliers and
checkerboard tiles, not marble floors. Wake up to the aroma of your
private cook preparing Blue Mountain coffee and a traditional Jamaican
breakfast ... laze away the day on the private beach ... indulge in a
massage in your own villa ... the choice to enjoy facilities and
services is yours. With oceanfront hotel rooms located on the bay and
villa suites in privately owned cottages nestled on the hillside, you
can be sure we have the right type of accommodation for your needs.
You recognize a sense of style at Round Hill
Hotel and Villas as soon as you drive through the gates. It is like a
cashmere sweater, exquisite to experience, but not the least bit
showy. Profuse gardens, secluded golden sand beaches, a world-class
spa in an 18th century great house at the edge of the sea, plenty of
privacy and warm, friendly staff add up to low-key luxury and timeless
glamour. This ultimate legendary resort just gets better.
The city of Montego Bay and Sangsters
International Airport is 12 kilometers or 25 minutes drive east of the
resort.
Guests may choose from Pineapple House Hotel
with 36 superior and deluxe rooms overlooking the Caribbean Sea and
Round Hill's seaside fresh water pool, or one of the 27 private villas
dotted over the hillside, most with private pool. |

Steeped
in the traditions of hosting decades of the talented and the
successful, Round Hill welcomes guests with a style that is only born
of good taste and long experience.
Originally opened in 1953,
Round Hill was conceived by well known Jamaican
entrepreneur, John Pringle, whose mother owned and operated the former
Sunset Lodge Hotel in Montego Bay. The 100-acre peninsula was part of
Lord Monson's Round Hill Estate which was first a sugar plantation and
later changed over to coconuts and pimento (all spice) which are still
produced today.
Twenty
nine acres were subdivided and prominent American and European
socialites were invited to build "cottages" and invest in the hotel.
Shareholders have included Noel Coward, Adele Astaire, Bill Paley,
Lord and Lady Ednam, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hammerstein, Clive Brook, Jack
and Natasha Wilson, the Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Tiarks and Viscount and Viscountess Rothermere.
Round
Hill is one of the few resorts in the world that can be called
legendary. Since its inception, its style and warm hospitality,
dramatic setting, and the famous guests who frequent it, put it in a
class by itself -- a place that captures the heart of those who visit.
All of this is celebrated in our book, Round Hill. Stunning images by
photographer David Massey, foreword by
author Michael M. Thomas, and text by
founder John Pringle, make it a must on
anyone’s list that has ever been or plans to go to Round Hill.
Condé
Nast Traveler magazine Gold List recognized our consistent striving
for excellence with the second highest rating for any Caribbean
resort. |
