One&Only Palmilla rests on
the tip of the Baja Peninsula where the azure ocean greets the
mountainous desert terrain. Where Pacific waters merge with the Sea
of Cortez and sandy beaches offer unimpeded views of gray whales
rising majestically just beyond the crashing surf. This verdant
oasis juxtaposed by desert and sea reflects the gracious style of
Old Mexico with its red-tiled roofs, whitewashed walls, and idyllic
setting of exquisite fountains, swaying palms, bird of paradise and
other tropical bloom.
The intimate resort was
founded in 1956 by Don Abelardo Rodriguez, son of General Abelardo
Rodriguez the interim president of Mexico, and has been a favorite
retreat for the likes of Hemingway and Harlow. In February 2004
following an $80 million investment, One&Only Palmilla begins a new
era as the quintessential embodiment of elegance.
One&Only Palmilla is
situated on a 250-acre portion of a 900-acre, master-planned
community that includes a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf
course and one of the few swimmable beaches in the destination.
The resort features
172 casually elegant accommodations, all with ocean views; a
full-service spa with 13 private treatment villas, fitness center
and salon; fine dining in 'C' and Agua restaurants; an executive
conference center; two infinity-edge pools; a children's pool and
play area; and a quaint chapel overlooking the tropical grounds. |
